Contact us today to find out how we can help you achieve the kitchen you’ve always wanted.
Why NDIS Kitchen Renovations Matter
For many NDIS participants, having an accessible kitchen is essential. It helps them maintain their independence and reduce their need for personal care support.
However, without the right layout and fixtures, simple tasks like cooking or reaching for food from cupboards can become difficult. Even unsafe.
By addressing your unique needs, our NDIS kitchen renovations eliminate these issues.

NDIS Kitchen Renovation Options
As registered NDIS Builders, we are proud to offer the following kitchen renovation options to people living with disabilities.

Accessible Kitchen Layouts & Benchtops
We design kitchen layouts specifically for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. They feature more room for movement, wider pathways, and adjustable benchtop heights with knee clearance.
This allows clients, their family, or their carers to easily prepare food.

Wheelchair‑Friendly Sinks, Cooktops & Appliances
Accessible fixtures are an essential part of any safe and functional kitchen. Whether we are modifying sinks to provide knee clearance and shallow bowls, or installing cooktops and ovens at heights that don’t require bending or reaching, we’ll ensure your kitchen is perfectly set up for your needs.

Storage & Easy‑Reach Cupboards
Our NDIS kitchen renovations provide you with plenty of storage. These can take the form of pull-out drawers, pull-down shelving, and reconfigured cupboards, as required.

Floors, Lighting & Safety
As an NDIS provider, safety is always a top priority in all our home modification services. That’s why our kitchen designs can include:
- Non-slip flooring
- Smooth transitions between rooms
- Well-lit benchtops and cooking areas
- Power points and switches installed at accessible heights
- Appliance choices like induction cooktops, with in-built safety features

Assistive Technology
Depending on your NDIS plan, assistive technology can be integrated into the kitchen design. This might include powered cupboards, smart toilets, or automated lighting systems.
Our NDIS Kitchen Renovation Process
At Torrens Facility Management, we are proud of the work we do to help NDIS participants enjoy more independent lives. Here is an overview of what you can expect from us.
Referral & Initial Conversation
Projects usually begin with a referral. Typically, this is from an occupational therapist, support coordinator, plan manager, or directly from the participant or their family. We gather key information, including the OT report, plans, photos of the current kitchen, and any immediate safety concerns.
Onsite Assessment & Design
Our team visits the property. Whilst there, we will assess the existing kitchen, structure, and layout.
We then work closely with the participant, their support network, and the occupational therapist to create a kitchen design that best suits their needs and budget.
NDIS‑Ready Quotes & Documentation
We provide you with a detailed quote. It will highlight the scope of work for the NDIS home modification, the materials to be used, the layout plans, and a breakdown of costs.
Construction & Installation
Your kitchen renovation will be done by our expert team of qualified builders and tradespeople. It is overseen by a project manager who plans each job carefully.
Together, they will efficiently carry out work in a way that minimises the disruption to your living space and outdoor areas.
Handover & Follow‑Up
Once the project is complete, we walk through the space with the client to make sure everything works as intended. We will double-check reach, height, and functionality to ensure the kitchen meets your needs and expectations.
